The Vif String Quartet is an Edmonton-based string ensemble that is passionate about making music together and sharing it with others. We take our name from the French word for bright, lively or vibrant – a term that captures our attitude and approach to music-making.
Members of the quartet perform regularly with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Alberta Baroque Ensemble and other ensembles, and have music degrees from the University of Alberta, Schulich School of Music at McGill University, and the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. Our ensemble also includes a composer/arranger, and private violin, viola, and cello teachers at the Suzuki Charter School, Society for Talent Education, and private studios.
We have extensive experience playing at a variety of functions including weddings, receptions, corporate functions, galas, and fundraising concerts.
Our repertoire covers the gamut from Bach to Louis Armstrong to traditional folk songs – and we’re always looking for more!
Let us set the scene for your special occasion.
